Environmental Journalists urged to play their role in conservation

Environmental reporters were advised to play a crucial role in environmental conservation and preservation.

The call was made during a three-days training organized by Rwanda Environment Journalists (REJ) in partnership of FOJO Media institute in July 2024, the training was aimed at empowering Rwanda Environmental Journalists to report on environment.

The Researcher, DrApollinaire William, who was the trainer commended environmental journalism role.

“Environmental Journalism is very Important, they play a crucial role in five vital environmental aspects such as Land, fuel energy, water, food -, and climate change issues. Nowadays, People’s like to use the Pesticides, it affects the land & water that cause some living animals being harmed. People use chemicals, but they have to know that the more we use chemical fertilizers the more the land become expired.” Dr Apollinaire William said, adding that environmental journalists have to mobilize the community so that their activities are friendly to the environment.

Ntagara Adelphine one of the Rwandan Environmental journalists has committed to proving her contribution in environment conservation. 

 “I am going to keep Producing many articles that’s talk and consider on the environmental preservation and conservation by teaching and raising awareness to the Audiences” Ntagara said

Preservation and conservation of environment is a global issue. The Journalists have to play crucial role of informing, making advocacy, collaborating with Policy makers and peoples to address the environmental protection issues in sustainable way.
