Kagame inaugurates surgical training Centre IRCAD Africa

President Paul Kagame and Prof. Jacques Marescaux, Founder and President of IRCAD, on Saturday , October 7 have inaugurated a new center of excellence for minimally invasive surgery IRCAD Africa, in Masaka, Kicukiro District.

The Head of State and the First Lady, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame, were the guests of honour at the inauguration of IRCAD Africa, which is expected transform the continent’s healthcare system by providing access to world-class training and research opportunities for surgeons from across Africa.

“IRCAD Africa is not serving Rwanda alone it is serving Africa. It is also improving and taking beyond, the talent we have in Africa to a much higher level. Bringing people together and bringing them together in our country here and around this Centre of Excellence, has limitless value of understanding and feeling. This encourages us to keep investing significantly in public health infrastructure”, said President Kagame

He pointed out that the Centre is not built for Rwandans alone, but Africans and other medical practitioners from across the world to visit, learn and share knowledge.

Prof. Jacques Marescaux founder and President of IRCAD said that the Centre will be a catalyst for all African surgeons and computer scientists.

“The most important thing I have to confess is that this project was only made possible thanks to the vision of our President ( Paul Kagame), I say our President because my name is Nshuti and you are my President”, said Marescaux

IRCAD is an original research and training center established in France in 1994. Every year more than 5000 surgeons from all over the world are trained at IRCAD France by a team of 800 international experts to obtain high-level skills.
